Questions. Requirements and limits.

What does a vehicle bill of sale record?
The seller, the buyer, the vehicle with its identification number, the purchase price, the date of sale and the odometer reading, with the signatures of both parties.
Does a bill of sale replace the title?
No. A bill of sale records the transaction. Ownership of a titled vehicle is transferred on the title, and a state may ask for a bill of sale in addition, as Colorado does when the sale price is not listed on the title.
Does this sheet replace a form that a state publishes?
Not where the state asks for its own form. Georgia publishes Form T-7, and Colorado offers a secure form, DR 2173. A state page links the form where the form was read.
Is the odometer reading required?
Federal regulations require the seller to disclose the odometer reading on the transfer of a vehicle that is not exempt. The age at which a vehicle becomes exempt is stated on a state page.
Is a notary required?
A notarization rule is stated on a state page only where an official source states it. The motor vehicle agency or the county office confirms the rule for a specific transaction.
Is the information stored?
No. The details stay in the browser, are not sent to Carlio and are cleared when the page is closed.
