China Vehicle Exports Reach 7.153 Million Through August 2026
China’s complete-vehicle exports continued to rise through August 2026, with monthly shipments above one million in June, July and August. New energy vehicle exports also increased over the first eight months, although the August total fell from July.

The 7.153 Million Export Benchmark
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology reported the following complete-vehicle export figures for January through August 2026 and the comparable period in 2025.

Monthly Exports Break Above One Million
The monthly series reproduced by CnEVPost shows exports rising from 681,000 vehicles in January to more than one million in June. July reached 1.043 million, slightly above June’s 1.037 million. The separate MIIT figure for August was 1.010 million.

The series records a lower February total than January, followed by increases from March through July. August remained above one million, according to the MIIT release, but was below July’s reported total.
NEV Exports and Their Share of August Exports
NEV exports increased from 302,000 in January to 553,000 in July, before easing by 5% month to month to 526,000 in August. The August total was about 130% higher year over year. Across January–August, NEV exports were up 124.3% year over year, a faster reported growth rate than the 66.7% increase in total vehicle exports.

August NEVs accounted for 52.1% of total vehicle exports. This share is specific to August and should not be read as the share for the full January–August period.
