The 2025 to 2026 release cycle includes new and refreshed models in China, Europe, North America and India. Announcements cover battery electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, range-extended models, hybrids and internal combustion variants.

The main finding is that competition extends beyond headline range. Published prices, battery options, powertrain choice and market-specific sales conditions differ across the selected announcements. Prices are stated in local currencies and under different sales conditions, so the announcements do not provide a converted like-for-like regional price comparison.

Comparison of announced prices, launch timing and specifications provides a basis for identifying models that merit further review for export, import and retail planning.

A New Release Cycle With Different Regional Priorities

The selected releases described below cover two models in China, three models in Europe, two 2026 models in North America and three models in India.

Among the selected releases, the China announcements cover models with battery-electric and additional energy types. The Europe selection covers compact battery-electric models. The North America selection covers a battery-electric model in the United States and a hybrid coupe in Canada. The India selection covers refreshed and expanded lineups.

China: New Models, Multiple Powertrains

BYD said the first second-generation Denza D9 rolled off the production line on 17 April 2026. The excerpt does not state the public launch date for the model. The company gave a pre-sale price range of RMB 389,800 to RMB 489,800.

For specifications, BYD listed 401 km of electric range for the plug-in hybrid version and 800 km for the battery-electric version of the second-generation Denza D9. Homologation and charging conditions in each destination market remain necessary checks before sourcing decisions.

XPENG held the China launch event for the G9L in Beijing on 17 September 2026. The company said the SUV is available as both a battery-electric vehicle and a range-extended electric vehicle. XPENG said the G9L will be produced in Guangzhou, China, and Graz, Austria. The source excerpt gives no production or delivery volume.

Renault announced Twingo E-Tech electric prices of EUR 19,490 for Evolution and EUR 21,090 for Techno, before government grants. The pricing announcement was dated 16 December 2025. The grant condition is material for landed cost calculations because the net transaction price depends on eligibility in the country of registration.

The Twingo E-Tech electric is 3.79 m long, has a 27.5 kWh LFP battery and a 60 kW motor rated at 82 hp, and offers up to 263 km of WLTP range.

Volkswagen dated the ID. Polo world-premiere release to 29 April 2026 and said German pre-sales started that day. Its German starting price was EUR 24,995. Volkswagen said the ID. Polo has 37 kWh or 52 kWh net battery options, with maximum WLTP ranges of 329 km and 454 km, respectively.

North America: 2026 Models Across Price Points

Nissan said the all-new 2026 LEAF would reach United States dealerships in fall 2025. The pricing announcement of 19 August 2025 listed the 2026 LEAF S+ at USD 29,990, the SV+ at USD 34,230, and the Platinum+ at USD 38,990.

Nissan estimated up to 303 miles of range per charge for the 2026 LEAF S+. Trim-level equipment, battery size and charging capability require separate review for each destination.

Honda Canada said the 2026 Prelude would arrive at Canadian dealers later in November 2025 and listed a one-trim MSRP of CAD 49,990. The announcement was made on 19 November 2025. A single trim means the price refers to one defined specification rather than a range across grades.

Honda described the Prelude hybrid system as using a 2.0-litre gasoline engine, with 200 horsepower of combined system output and 232 lb-ft of torque. The announcement describes a coupe body style with a hybrid powertrain.

The ex-showroom basis and time-limited introductory period for the Thar OG require careful reading of offers. On-road costs and registration charges remain separate from the announced starting price.

What Traders Should Check Before Sourcing

Price conditions differ by announcement. Renault prices are stated before government grants, Mahindra Thar OG pricing is stated ex-showroom on an introductory basis, and German prices are stated as starting or entry prices while United States and Canadian prices refer to MSRPs. Comparison of domestic announcements therefore requires adjustment for taxes, incentives, freight, insurance and dealer charges.

Range and output standards also differ. European electric range figures are stated on the WLTP cycle, while Nissan United States range is stated as an estimate per charge. Battery capacities are stated as net values for Volkswagen models and with LFP chemistry for the Twingo. Direct comparison is valid only within the same test procedure.
